ACES will be moving from its current site based at The North Cambs Hospital, Wisbech to new purpose built premises at Cromwell Road, Wisbech in the very near future.
Our new premises have two state of the art operating theatres and diagnostic testing rooms for visual field assessment, OCT, GDX and biometry scanning as well as a dedicated laser room.
We welcome Mr Safdar Alam, MD MSc who joined the ACES Team on 1 September 2014.
Mr Alam was a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Devon before joining us and has just completed further specialist training in medical retinal disorders, including age related macular degeneration, at the prestigious St Paul’s Eye Hospital, Liverpool.
ACES have recently taken delivery of a new I-Vue retinal and glaucoma scanner. This will help us to diagnose and treat glaucoma at a point in the disease process before any visual loss occurs.
ACES, founded in 2007, is an independent provider of NHS ophthalmic treatment where patients are able to receive eye care in the community from Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons. Our aim is to provide ophthalmic care of the highest standards in a community setting that is convenient and comfortable for our patients.
The ACES Team is led by Mr Neil Johnson, Mr Cliff Jakeman and the ACES Registered Manager, Mrs Donna Sweeney. The Team is sited primarily at Wisbech with satellite teams based permanently in Fakenham and Thetford with cross cover of our outreach sites by all our Doctors and Health Care Assistant (HCA) staff.
ACES is a pioneering independent provider of NHS ophthalmic care in the community and one of the first centres nationally to take innovative fast track cataract surgery out of a hospital setting.
