Dr Giles qualified as a doctor in 1998 from the University of Sheffield and started specialist training in ophthalmology in 1999, remaining in Sheffield and the surrounding area until he had completed his training. In 2007, he received Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and in 2008, Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
As a consultant, Dr Giles has worked in several locations, including overseas. He started his first substantive post at the Vision Eye Institute, Footscray (Melbourne), specialising in medical retina, oculoplastics and cataract surgery.
On his return to the UK after 4 years, he took a consultant post at Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Since 2016, he has worked for independent providers of community NHS ophthalmology services, including ACES and is delighted to be able to continue doing so.
