About Mr Mathew

Mr Manu Mathew has a wide range of experience as an ophthalmic surgeon and is a specialist in cataract surgery and intraocular contact lens surgery. Highly respected by both his peers and patients, he has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery, and is listed on the Specialist Register for Ophthalmology.

A graduate of the University of Madras, Mr Mathew subsequently trained at a number of teaching hospitals including the Tennent Institute in Glasgow and Queen’s Medical Centre at the University of Nottingham, before being granted the role of specialist registrar and clinical lecturer position at the University of Nottingham.  He previously held a Consultant Ophthalmologist post at Chesterfield NHS foundation trust, specialising in glaucoma, cornea and external eye disease, and the role of specialty doctor tutor.

Dr Mathew has published a number of peer review journal articles, as well as presenting research papers to his peers. He has carried out thousands of successful refractive surgery procedures, and is an active member of various societies including the United Kingdom Society of Cataract Surgeons and British Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
