About Mr Byard

Mr Byard completed his medical training in 2000 at St Bartholomew’s and Royal London School of Medicine. Since then he has undertaken  fully registered training with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in a number of hospitals in London, Kent and the South East of England.

Before undertaking medical training, Mr Byard qualified as an Optometrist, obtaining a degree from the University of Wales. After working in Trinidad and Tobago for two years he returned to the UK to train in medicine.

He has undertaken a number of overseas charity operations in Africa and Bolivia and currently runs a charity delivering ophthalmic surgery to remote areas of Bolivia.

He has published and presented a number of ophthalmic journals in the fields of cataract and oculoplastic surgery in the UK as well as many international settings. Mr Byard also completed  three years’ fellowship training in Brighton, Cambridge and Moorfields Eye Hospital.  

Mr Byard is an accomplished cataract surgeon, having recorded over 7,000 cataract procedures as well as complex oculoplastics and glaucoma surgery. He is currently the Lead Clinician at Queen Elizabeth NHS Trust at Kings Lynn and prides himself on providing the highest level of patient care.

Mr Byard joined the ACES team in 2015 providing cataract, oculoplastics and glaucoma services to the local community and maintaining close working relations with the local hospitals. My Byard is committed to providing  support and training to other members of the ACES team, developing their knowledge and skills in their ophthalmic work.
