Joining us in the role of NHS Partnership Executive for our Fakenham, Norwich, Thetford and Wisbech Clinics is Katie Lord. We sat down with Katie to find out more about her experience in the eye care industry, which includes nearly 20 years with Vision Express, and what drew her to join the ACES Team.
- What were you doing before you joined ACES?
I had been working for Vision Express for a very long time across different roles, most recently as a Store Manager.
- What first attracted you to join ACES?
From my role at Vision Express, I was familiar with the referral pathways and seeing the difference the services provided by ACES made to a patient’s life. It was an exciting opportunity to understand what happens after the referral is made, and I wanted to help raise awareness in the local community about the vital services ACES can offer.
- Can you explain what your role with ACES involves?
I am the point of contact between local healthcare providers and their nearest ACES Clinic. I am here to continue building relationships in the community, to help facilitate patient referrals and to educate about the range of services we provide in order to help reduce NHS waiting times.

- What excites you most about your new role?
I’m looking forward to being out in the community and talking about the services we provide, that make a real positive impact on a person’s life.
- What is the best piece of advice that you’ve ever received?
“Do the things that scare you.” It’s only by getting out of your comfort zone that you get to learn new skills and expand your horizons.
- What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would book a cruise around the world. There are so many places I want to travel to! Japan and Australia are high on my list. I was on an amazing cruise to Alaska last year and I already want to go back!
